This paper focuses on the environmental impacts of food systems. Sustainable production, processing, trade, and consumption patterns are explored. Their links to the social context of food are reinforced.

This paper is taught through lectures and discussion. A field trip, subject to confirmation from the host organisation, will be chosen with the aim of providing increased understanding. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to attend the Waikato Ballance Farm Environment Awards Evening.
